Privacy Policy

What Perch is

Perch is a personal finance dashboard built by an independent developer. It connects to your bank and credit card accounts through Plaid so you can see your spending, subscriptions, and income in one place.

What we collect

• Account info: your name, email address, and a hashed (never plaintext) password.
• Financial data via Plaid: account names, balances, transactions, recurring payment streams, and the identity of the institutions you connect. We never see or store your bank username or password — that exchange happens entirely between you and Plaid.
• A Plaid access token for each connected account, stored encrypted at rest, which we use to sync your data.
• Data you enter directly: budgets, savings goals, and category labels.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data, financial or otherwise, to anyone.
• We don't share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
• We don't use your financial data for anything other than showing it back to you inside the app.

Who else sees this data

A few infrastructure providers process data on our behalf, under their own security and privacy commitments, strictly to run the service:

• Plaid — bank connectivity and transaction data.
• Neon — encrypted database hosting (Postgres).
• Vercel — application hosting.
• Resend — transactional email (verification, password reset).

Your controls

• Disconnect any linked bank at any time from Settings — this revokes Perch's access with Plaid immediately.
• Delete your account at any time from Settings. This removes every connected item from Plaid and permanently deletes your user record and all associated data (accounts, transactions, recurring streams, budgets, savings goals) from our database. This action is irreversible.
• Email us (below) to ask what data we hold about you or to request deletion manually.

Security

Passwords are hashed using a modern, industry-standard algorithm — never stored in plain text. Plaid access tokens are encrypted at rest. All traffic is served over HTTPS. Access to the production database and infrastructure is restricted to the developer.

Changes

If this policy changes in a material way, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, notify active users by email.
